Experienced Professional Engineer and IP Attorney Thomas Hoehner Joins as Partner

Syracuse, New York – January 21, 2015 – Hiscock & Barclay, LLP welcomes experienced electrical engineer and attorney Thomas Hoehner as a Partner of the firm.

Hoehner is a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation, the Branding, Trademarks & Copyrights, and the Patents & Prosecution Practice Areas.

A Syracuse native, Hoehner joins the firm from national law firm Proskauer Rose LLP in Boston, where he represented leading technology and consumer product companies, including Brocade Communications Systems, Edmunds.com, General Electric, Kohler, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Payless Shoe Source, SeaChange International, Sony, U.S. Philips, and Zenith Electronics, in various intellectual property disputes.

Hoehner concentrates his legal practice on patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright matters, with an emphasis on the litigation and resolution of infringement disputes and related claims in federal district and appeals courts and before the International Trade Commission. Hoehner also counsels clients on the licensing and transfer of intellectual property. He has experience in a variety of technologies, including Internet services and systems, software, networking and communications systems, smartphones and other mobile devices, video-on-demand systems, digital television systems, digital data compression, wireless power transfer, engine systems, and general electrical and mechanical systems.

Prior to becoming an intellectual property attorney, Hoehner applied his electrical engineering skills in the business and consulting fields for ten years, serving as a Manager in the Communications and High-Tech Industry Portfolio at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), as Director of Product Development at beMANY, Inc., and as Senior Principal Consultant at Keane, Inc.

Hoehner received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law earning a Certificate in the Technology Commercialization Law Studies Program, and was a recipient of the ABA/BNA Intellectual Property Award. He is admitted to practice in New York.
