Tom Walsh is a seasoned environmental attorney who has practiced in all areas of environmental law since the seminal statutes were passed in the late-1970s and early-1980s.

As noted in U.S. News & World Report’s Law Firm Rankings edition, Tom has put together an experienced legal team to support a broad practice that ranges from simple to complex environmental law matters, including administrative orders on consent and cost recovery litigation under the federal and state Superfund and oil spill laws; the purchase or sale of companies or properties with substantial environmental exposure; and the permitting, planning and zoning of projects with significant environmental impacts. He has and continues to represent an equally broad range of clients from an industry group, to a utility, to a transportation corporation, several Fortune 500 corporations, mid-cap manufacturers, numerous small businesses, to both developers and municipalities, to individuals, before numerous State and federal agencies, on matters as diverse as brownfield redevelopment and tax credits, oil spill and hazardous substance remediation, NEPA/SEQRA, historic preservation matters under federal Section 106/NYS Section 14.09; coastal zone consistency, dock licensing, environmental restoration projects, solid and hazardous waste regulations, petroleum and chemical bulk storage, release/spill reporting, and Form R/Toxic Release Inventory reporting.

Tom is admitted in federal and state courts and regularly handles environmental litigation cases for his clients. Tom has demonstrated his leadership abilities by serving on the firm’s Management Committee from 2004-2010. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Law and Regulation at Rochester Institute of Technology for seven years. He has served since 1997 as the chair of the Monroe County Local Emergency Planning Committee and was appointed in 1996 by Governor Pataki to the New York State Superfund Management Board, which he served on until the Board dissolved in 1999. The New York State Business Council gave Tom its award for outstanding leadership on Superfund Reform/Brownfields Incentive Project in 1998.
